Why freeware?

I use these tools on my own NAS too. I share them because the QNAP community, which I've been part of since 2008, has given me a lot: answers, bug reports and ideas.

Not everything comes for free, so I'll at least try to give something back with these tools and programs.

Thank you for every contribution, kind word and bug report. I am especially grateful for the help given to Tymon. And if you simply use these tools and find them useful, that means a lot too. That is why I make them.

For Tymon

Tymon is my son. In the photos he is soldering a circuit board. He has cystic fibrosis, an inherited condition that affects breathing and digestion. There is no cure yet, but treatment helps.

The Polish cystic fibrosis society, Polskie Towarzystwo Walki z Mukowiscydozą (PTWM), maintains a subaccount in Tymon's name free of charge. It uses those funds to pay invoices for his treatment, rehabilitation and medicines under its own rules.

Cystic fibrosis in brief

What it is and what it means day to day.

  1. A changed gene

Cystic fibrosis is genetic: a child develops it after inheriting an altered copy of the CFTR gene from each parent. This causes the body to produce thick, sticky mucus.

  2. Lungs and digestion

The mucus builds up mainly in the lungs and digestive system. Both need daily care to support breathing and digestion.

  3. Every day

Physiotherapy to help clear the airways, and medicines inhaled through a nebuliser to thin the mucus.

  4. With meals

Enzyme capsules taken with meals and snacks containing fat help the body digest food.

  5. Treatment today

Since 2022, Poland has reimbursed CFTR modulators, medicines that act on the cause of the disease. Since 1 April 2025, children from age 2 with at least one F508del mutation can receive Kaftrio. These medicines are not suitable for everyone, and there is still no cure.

In Poland, about 1 person in 35 carries a changed CFTR gene, and about 1 baby in 4,400 is born with cystic fibrosis. Since 2009, all newborns have been included in the screening programme for CF. The European registry counted 1,726 people with CF in Poland in 2024.

How to help Tymon

Help for Tymon is separate from contributions to my work. The 1.5% tax allocation and bank transfers go to PTWM, which maintains his named subaccount. The separate Revolut link is for him alone. None of these contributions affect access to the apps.

From abroad

A separate Revolut link for Tymon

Gifts through this link are for Tymon. They go neither to PTWM nor towards my work. Any amount; you can pay by card without a Revolut account.

From Poland

1.5% of your tax

If you file an annual tax return in Poland or a PIT-OP statement as a pension recipient, you can direct 1.5% of the tax you owe to a public benefit organisation. It is part of the tax you pay anyway, not an extra payment.

  1. In Twój e-PIT, open “1,5% podatku dla OPP”. Select “Dodaj” if the section is empty, or “Wybierz organizację” if another organisation is shown. On a paper form, fill in the section on 1.5% for a public benefit organisation (OPP).
  2. Enter the KRS number:KRS0000064892
  3. Enter the specific purpose (cel szczegółowy) exactly as written here:Cel szczegółowy918/23/20 Tymon Grzybacz
  4. File your return by 30 April. Twój e-PIT fills in last year's organisation and purpose, so check that they match the ones above.
Or a bank transfer from a Polish account

Any amount. Write “Tymon Grzybacz” in the reference, so the society knows who the donation is for.
