Rtorrent 16 for iPhone 1.1.0

Rtorrent 16 for iPhone: privacy

Rtorrent 16 for iPhone connects your iPhone to the Rtorrent 16 panel on your own NAS. The panel's pages, the .torrent files and magnet links you open or share with the app, and your iPhone's model name go only to that NAS, over HTTPS, at the addresses the pairing gave the app.

On your NAS

The NAS keeps the phone's name, when and from which address it was last used, and a hash of its token, so the panel can list the phone and revoke it. It also keeps the phone's notifications for up to 7 days (at most 200). Revoking the phone on the panel's Phone app page deletes all of this.

Instant notifications

Notifications arrive at once through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging, Apple's push service and our relay at www.qnaputilities.com. Your NAS seals each notification for your iPhone alone, so the relay, Google and Apple pass on a message they cannot read.

For this the relay keeps the phone's push token, a hash of a random relay token, that the phone is an iPhone, and when it registered and was last sent a notification. To limit abuse it counts registrations and wrong tokens per public IP address; each address and its count are deleted after three days. The relay deletes a phone's registration when you revoke or unpair the phone, and at the next notification after Google reports the token gone (after the app is removed). A registration nothing uses any more keeps only the two tokens and the two dates.

With notifications turned off, the app reads them from your NAS when you open it, and nothing goes through the relay, Google or Apple.

On the iPhone

The app keeps its pairing and its notification keys in the iPhone's Keychain, on this device only. The camera reads the pairing QR code only; the picture is not kept.

Nothing else

The app has no account, shows no ads, and contains no analytics or crash reporting. Apart from the relay registration above, it sends nothing to the developer.
