Rtorrent 16 Freeware Licence 1.0 Copyright (c) 2008-2026 Silas, Mariusz Grzybacz. All rights reserved. Rtorrent 16 is freeware: it costs nothing, it has no licence key and no paid tier. Freeware does not mean that the source is free to change or to copy; the terms below say what you may do. 1. Scope. This licence covers the Rtorrent 16 software and materials published by the licensor (the "Software"): its programs, scripts, user interface, texts, images, icons and videos, including the Rtorrent 16 add-ons whose code the licensor wrote. It does not cover third-party components. Each of those keeps its own licence, listed at https://www.qnaputilities.com/sources.html, and nothing here limits the rights those licences give you. A file or directory that names another licence (in its header, a COPYING file or its own LICENSE file) is under that licence. 2. Use. You may install and run the Software, free of charge, on any number of QNAP NAS units that you own or administer, for private or business purposes. You may configure it, change its settings and keep your own data in it. That is not modification. 3. Not permitted, except where section 4 or the law says otherwise: a) modifying the Software, translating it or making works based on it; b) copying it except as needed under section 2 and section 4; c) distributing, publishing, mirroring, selling, renting or sublicensing the Software or any part of it, including in other packages or repositories; d) removing or changing copyright, licence or authorship notices. 4. Rights the law gives you. Nothing in this licence takes away rights you have under mandatory law, including the right to: make a back-up copy; observe, study and test how the Software works while running it; decompile it where indispensable for interoperability, as permitted by Article 6 of Directive 2009/24/EC; and correct errors in your own copy for your own use. 5. Security research. You may test, analyse and decompile the Software to find vulnerabilities, on systems you own or are allowed to test. Report findings to the security contact named at https://www.qnaputilities.com/.well-known/security.txt. Please give the licensor 90 days, or until a fix is released if that comes first, before you publish details. The licensor will not make claims under this licence against research done in good faith under this section. 6. Ending. If you break these terms, your licence ends, unless you comply fully within 32 days of written notice and correct any past breach. 7. No warranty, liability. The Software is provided free of charge, as it is, as far as the law allows. This does not exclude or limit liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, under product liability law, or under any consumer rights that cannot be waived. 8. Law. Polish law applies, without taking away the protection that consumers have under the mandatory law of the country where they live. 9. Versions. A new version of this licence applies only to releases published with it.
